Animal Welfare Assessment System (AWAS)

The Animal Welfare App includes a full-integrated, fully automated Animal Welfare Assessment System (AWAS).  Over 108 profile formulas pulling data from dozens of tables covering 11 categories are calculated and assessed daily on every active animal and collection in the Registry.  This daily welfare metric provides focus and frequency to an otherwise diverse set of data across a broad spectrum of disciplines.  

To view the AWAS Dashboard, click on the Welfare Badge in the Quick Access toolbar. The AWAS Dashboard provides the most recent daily assessment Score along with Utilization and Efficiency.  Scores are displayed by Category and overall Total Assessment Score.  

• Scoring changes can provide actionable information by directing attention to specific category
• Analytics provides scoring trends over time further enhancing welfare management information
• Company Welfare Baseline and Facility Welfare Baseline provide detail on training, education and certifications related to animal welfare goals

Users are encouraged to contribute Qualitative Assessments on a routine and regular basis for each animal and collection. Qualitative Assessments are segregated by front-line caregiver and veterinary assessment and are found at the bottom of the AWA Dashboard menu.
