Recording Morphometrics (Measurements)

Summary

OERCA's Morphometrics tool allows you to record and track various measurements of individual animals in your collection.

To enter Animal Weights for an INDIVIDUAL, follow these steps:

1. Click on Morphometrics within the Animal menu on the Navigator panel.

2. Date/Time:  This will always default to the current date/Time.  To change, click inside the field and select a different date/time.
3. Click the Individual button to filter dropdown animal list.
4. Select the animal you are recording morphometrics for.
5. Comments:  Enter any necessary comments.
6. Enter measurement reading in corresponding field according to animal schematic.  This will differ depending the the species of animal selected.    
7. Click on the Submit button when finished.

To enter Animal Weights for a COLLECTION, follow these steps:

1. Click on Morphometrics within the Animal menu on the Navigator panel.

2. Date/Time:  This will always default to the current date/Time.  To change, click inside the field and select a different date/time.
3. Click the Collection button to filter dropdown animal list.
4. Select the animal collection you are recording morphometrics for.
5. Assign a Specimen ID by entering a unique number in the ID field.  If there is already an existing Specimen ID, you can click on the folder to make a selection.  
6. Comments:  Enter any necessary comments.
7. Enter measurement reading in corresponding field according to animal schematic.  This will differ depending the species of animal selected.    
8. Click on the Submit button when finished.
