ABOUT THERAPY PLANS
Therapy Plans provide the tools necessary for health management professionals (assigned to The Animal Welfare App's Health Management Permission Group) to prescribe medications, vitamins and other supplements. Prescribed Pharmacy Items can be designated as either "Health Maintenance" (such as daily vitamins) or "Special Care" (such as medications prescribed to treat an illness). Once a vitamin or medication is prescribed, it is "pushed out" to the daily session records where each prescription is administered by a front-line Trainer/Caregiver/Aquarist by simply checking off the corresponding check box as shown below.
STEP-BY-STEP: How to Create a Therapy Plan
Applies to:
- Health Management Permission Group
- Navigate to the Health Module.
- Hover over the Prescriptions menu.
- Click the Therapy Plan link.
- Select the Facility and then the Animal you are prescribing a Therapy Plan for.
- Click the "Add New" button. This will open a new popup window.
NOTE: If you just need to edit an existing prescription, select the item from the table list and then click the "View/Edit Selected" button.
Once the "Add Prescription" window is open, enter the following information:

Prescription Type: choose either Health Maintenance or Special Care.

Medication or Pharmacy Pack: Choose the appropriate Medication OR Pharmacy Pack from the corresponding drop down list. Click here to learn more about Pharmacy Packs.
Tip: When choosing a medication, you can search by brand name or chemical name using the search tool icon to the right of the Medication drop-down list.
Note: If a particular item does not appear in the medication list, it means that item has not been entered into your Pharmacy.

Administration Schedule: Click on Daily for medications that are administered every day; or Scheduled for medications that are administered on precise dates (not daily); or Recurring for medications administered on regular intervals (e.g. once each week).For daily schedules, set:

Begin Date: the date prescription should begin (first day medication should appear in session records to be administered)

End Date: the last date medication should be administered. For items that are administered indefinitely (such as daily vitamins), leave the end date blank

Note: Medications will be pushed out to session records on both the "Begin" and "End" date as recorded in the Therapy Plans. These dates should reflect the first and the last date prescriptions are to be provided to animals.

Review Date: Leave as UFN (Until Further Notice) for medications that do not have a specific review date. If medications are assigned a review date, notices will be sent to designated personnel (appointed in the communications center) to alert when a prescription should be reviewed or discontinued.

Notes [optional]: Enter any relevant notes regarding the medication being prescribed. These notes will only be seen by those who have access to the Therapy Plan tool.

Prescription Details: Enter specific details for prescription administration including:

QTY: Enter the quantity of medication to be administered for each time prescribed. This number should represent the smallest single unit of the medication such as a 2 capsules, 1 tablet, 3 ml, etc.

Time: Enter the preferred or suggested time(s) the medication is to be administered.

Instruction [optional]: Enter any important instructions regarding the administration of the medication. This will be seen by those administering the prescription.
