Summary
The Sessions tool allows care givers a means to record and track food types and amounts fed; along with other behavioral data such as session type, duration and rating.
To enter Session & Feed Records, follow these steps:
-
Click on the "Animal " button in the left Facility navigation panel.
-
Click "Sessions" in the submenu.
-
Select the Area/Exhibit and Category of Session/Feed (i.e. Collections, Individuals or Mixed Group). Depending on your category selection, you will then select a specific Collection, Individual or Mixed Group from the list directly below.
-
Date/Time: This field will always default to the current date/time. To change, click inside the field and select a different date/time.
-
Facilitator: Select the caregiver who conducted the session. By default, the name of the User logged in will show in this field.
-
Supplemental Session Data: The group of icons below the facilitator drop-down contains additional data that the User can append to the session record. See section below for more information regarding each option.
-
Session Detail: Enter the session type, duration (in minutes) and rating.
NOTE: These session options will only be available for animals that have the "Record Training Data" turned on in their animal profile.
-
Food: Enter each food amount that was fed during the session. There are a variety of ways you can configure your Nutritional Plan to accommodate different work flows for this area. See Nutritional Plan article for more detail.
NOTE: When you first open the Session record, each field within the "Current" column will automatically display with the quantity of diet that remains (based on the diet plan and amount already fed). Simply click inside the field to make any necessary adjustments to what was fed during the session. Only the rows that show a checkmark in the box will be submitted with the session/feed data.
-
Click Submit (green check mark) when finished.
Supplemental Session Data Icons
The User has the option of recording additional information that can be appended to each session record. Below is a summary of each item:
-
Learning Tracker: When certain session types are selected (husbandry and learning), the User can track the learning acquisition rate by recording the trials requested vs correct responses of specific behaviors. In order to utilize this tool, certain configurations must be completed.
- Applied Therapy: Users can tick off any vitamins or medications that were prescribed via Therapy Plans and then administered during the session.
- Incident: Users can track specific behaviors and other data associated with "incidents" or other scenarios that can occur during a session. This tool is often used to track aggression, but can be applied to other categories of behavior. The tool is customizable and configured in Facility Settings.
- Environmental Enrichment: This tool is used to track the application, participation and intent of Environmental Enrichment Devices.
- Comments: User can enter any comments regarding the session.

Hi Todd!
I did an experiment yesterday and I asked the team to just use express sessions for all the animals, for all sessions. I instructed not to edit anything in edit center except comments, ratings, etc. They followed it. However, all of the teams' feedback was when they checked Intake Analysis, it was not reflecting the last 3 diets. The sessions were there but the amount was all 0. I thought them how to use the 3 lines and they were working. However, at the end of the day, again, there was a notification sent to the management about all the dolphins eating below 90%. I also checked the Daily Report and true enough, the last 3 sessions were 0. I will be pasting here the photos.
I asked the team again to just use express sessions only today to have more data.
Thank you.
